I am kind of jealous!

I met Jerome through Shane [ they worked together in Berkeley ]

When I first met Micaela and Jerome, they told us how they were getting married in January, my first question was "Ohhh do you guys have a photographer yet?" They did. So I ended that conversation quick. Couple weeks later Shane went out with Jerome one night and long story short, I ended up getting a text from Jerome saying Shane had shown him my photography... so he fired his photographer and was hiring me. I actually laughed out loud when I read the text because he was so blunt about his decision, haha. Needless to say I was very lucky to have them pick me to shoot their wedding because the wedding was awesome! It was perfectly romantic with a touch of old fashion vintage-ness going on. It was up in northern California in Auburn at a place called the Flower Farm [ I believe ]

Cute place, great for photographs, big red barn that they made beautiful inside for the reception.

Micaela was wonderful, charming and elegant as can be.

To describe Jerome and Micaela is one word from their wedding day / night, the word would be humble.

I don't use that word for a ton of people but they really were a humble couple, and that is a compliment.

Atrani

Atrani, the tiniest little town in the nook of Amalfi Coast.

not sure how the heck we found it, but we took a little turn down to the beach and BAM we were in Atrani (where we had reservations to stay for the night)

Again, Rick Steves suggested this place.

So as we were in Sorrento and knew we had the scooter for a whole day, we decided that booking a place to stay would probably be the best idea. So we called up this little hostile type place and booked a room. Quite the place I'll tell ya...

Haha.

The place itself was, interesting. Tiled everywhere, mismatched tiles that is, three bedrooms to one place. It was almost like an apartment that all shared the kitchen, but had single beds scattered in each room. The bathroom and the shower were in one little hole in the wall, interesting. We had the worlds most uncomfortable beds! But it was still a good experience.

Never have I stayed in a place that the town is built within white walls. Stairs, left and right turns, but still all within white walls. I kind of felt like I was in Greece, from pictures and movies I have seen of Greece, this place was very similar.

We went out to dinner that night and walked the little town, then walked over to Amalfi, then to the pier and took a few pictures, then called it a night.

The next morning I woke up extremely early, actually I should say I never really slept that night at all.

Walked down the beach, enjoyed the scenery, then got some breakfast, and relaxed. Shane came down and met me then we packed up and hit the road back to Sorrento to return the scooter.

The weekend trip was awesome. So much fun!

Sorrento, Positano & The Amalfi Coast

Morning time came and we took the train out of Naples straight to Sorrento. It was about an hour half ride there but the closer we got to Sorrento, the more the ocean came into site... which made us happy. It was a beautiful day outside, blue skies, not too chilly, and we had a full day ahead of us to do whatever we wanted! First things first, we knew we wanted to rent a scooter so that we could ride around all of Sorrento and then to the Alamfi coast, instead of having to worry about taxi rides and whatnot. Lets just say renting a scooter was the best idea we ever had. It only cost us 30 Euros for a full day and night! So we hopped on that little red guy and cruised! We drove down through streets to the water, on little docks by the water, up, around, and everywhere. Then we made our way out of Sorrento to the other side... !

(Sorrento was very cute, clean, and quaint)

Then comes the dream-like drive to Positano...
After getting over the mountain from Sorrento (being on one side of the mountain) to the other side
(where the Amalfi coast is) the drive was amazing. The small road that curls and twirls along the coast on these cliffs takes about an hour, maybe more if you stop for photographs like we did, but as you cruise along you see all the towns that make up the coast. It is wonderful.

Naples, Never Again

The reason for the title is because Naples...... SUCKS.
Sorry to offend anyone who likes Naples (I am sure there isn't a whole lot of you) but I definitely thought that Naples would be very very different. From the second we stepped off the train and into the train terminal area, I instantly knew it wasn't gonna be a pretty site. People smoking cigarettes and throwing them on the clean tile, trust me I am used to people smoking cigarettes EVERYWHERE. I am immune to everyones smoking habits out here and throwing their bud wherever, but inside on clean tile? Not so much. The next few steps... an old grungy man begging for money, the next few steps... a dikey women bum drugged out of her mind sitting outside on the curb begging, shouting, yelling nonsense things. The next few steps... a man crying and yelling because somebody hit him? Traffic, construction, trash everywhere, dirty dirty dirtiness....

I was scared.

We arrived in Naples at about 4, so we had to get a place to stay for the night because our plan was to go to the Amalfi Coast the next day. We then got a hostile closest to the train station and decided to walk the streets of Naples.
Naples being the place where pizza was created, I had to go there because pizza is my favorite food!

So thanks to Rick Steve's Italy book, we know everything when we travel.
Therefore, we know the best and cheapest hostiles, we know the best places to eat in town, we know where to go, how to save our money, where to rent things, how to get around fastest, the book has already saved our lives.

As we walked down the streets of Naples, I was truly amazed. Not by beauty of course, but by how ITALIAN the town was. Apparently the further south you go in Italy, the more true Italian it gets. That is not necessarily a good things nor a beautiful thing. Clothes hanging from one apartment to the next within these small ally ways. Apartments upon apartments, homes upon homes, people upon people. The town is the third most populated town in Italy, but it seems much more crowded due to how close together everyone lives. I couldn't believe how many clothe-lines can be hung between two 10 story buildings. Impressive actually.

TONS of shopping down this main road.
"SALDI".... in every store. Literally, there is a "SALE" going on in every store.
50% off, its quite comical because how is everything on sale in every single store... year round.
Oh well, some stores did have some great prices.

As we made our way down this main street in search for the pizza place where on Eat Pray Love, Julia Roberts eats with her friend... we took it all in. Kids playing soccer in allies, on corners, people trying to sell you things off their tables, cars almost crashing into eachother constantly, Italian women yelling with hand gestures, and much more. After getting lost for a while, we finally found the pizza place and all I got to say about it was it was AMAZING. so worth the walk and train ride and all the above to eat this pizza. It was like no other pizza I have eaten before, pure deliciousness.

Anyways long story short, I wouldn't recommend a trip to Naples but if it leads to where we went the next day... then possibly. Because the Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast is mouth watering.

The other day we took a little 5 minute walk down my street to one of the oldest churches in Rome.

Its a nice little square with a fountain and birds and colorful apartments surrounding the square.

These birds are ruthless though, I have almost been hit by them multiple times. They come soaring out of nowhere, straight for your head. They don't care if your in the way, they are making there way to any bread or food on the ground. So a nice old man was feeding this flock of birds, right after he left I decided to just stand there by them then clap real loud (capturing this photo)

Rome In Red

Yesterday my feet about broke off. I decided to wear my brown boots [not sooo comfy, but cute] to walk over to the Vatican Museum. I forgot how bad my achilles were hurting, until we were almost to the Vatican. I don't know how I forget because ever single morning its the same thing, I go on a walk to somewhere and after about five minutes into that walk my left achilles starts hurting. This is normal, says Shane's professor. Because of the cobblestone streets everywhere, the road is a bit uneven and its not like your walking on sidewalk. Your knees, feet, and achilles could/should hurt for the first 10 days of being here. So thats good to know that me and Shane are both not out of shape or something, were just normal Americans adapting to the roads of Rome.

We spent the day inside the Vatican then onto the Vatican Museum where the Sistine Chapel is.

WOW, what a masterpiece. The entire museum is incredible by itself but then to reach the Sistine Chapel at the end, is really a cherry on top. The Sistine Chapel is the most the amazing thing I have seen since I have been in Rome. I decided it is my favorite thing in Rome thus far, although it is simply a "chapel" it is the most beautiful art in the world. Especially learning how much time and work Michael Angelo put into this piece, makes you appreciate it even more. Amazing.

I finally got to taking a breather. Shane and I have been walking absolutely everywhere for the past 5 days and trying to see the "musts" but today I had a few hours to edit and and post the pictures I have so far!They are all kinda in a cluster and out of order but you get the jist of my past 5 days, I hope you enjoy!

My Studio In Rome!

When you imagine yourself moving to a foreign country, you image where you would live.
When you see the apartment you got on the internet, you think you know what it will be like through seeing pictures
When you actually walk into your apartment and feel instantly happy you know you made the right decision.

The studio is wonderful! Its artsy, has hardwood floors and ceilings, three tall windows to open during the day to let the Italian breeze come in, located in a perfect ally, and is everything I imagined plus more!
It is located in the Trastevere neighborhood, which after roaming all of Rome in the past few days, is the perfect neighborhood to live in! It has tons of winding cobblestone streets with colorful apartments lining the streets. All apartments sit above small delicious restaurants, cafes, shops, gelato creameries.

I love the peach/orange ish walls and curtains. I love that I get to water my flowers outside the window twice a week. I love that I can open my windows and here Italian children playing in the streets. I love that I can close the two doors and the kitchen is then hidden, I love that there is a bed above the kitchen (visitors welcome) I love that I get to walk outside and cross a bridge to see all the of most incredible ancient sites in the world.

I am still taking it all in, but I am slowly and surely feeling home.

(an update on my tooth: All days in Rome until 2 days ago, the pain slowly went away then FINALLY and after tons of personal prayers, the pain is gone) That is why I am so happy to be healthy again!

One week ago today, I had my bags packed and was ready to embark on my adventure with Shane.

My parents were so helpful in the hours before I left. Let me begin with my day of leaving America:

A week and a half prior to this Monday of departure I had a crown put on my left back tooth.

Was in that dentist chair for four hours, as he was "running into little problems"

After the four hours of my mouth locked open, I instantly feared now closing my mouth because I felt like my jaw was locked or something strange. I went to bed that night pretty much still numb (due to about 10 shots they gave me in those 4 hours) I woke up on Saturday and felt fine.

I decided to take a vicodin in the afternoon though because it sort of began.

Began= the pain that got extremely worse over the next 2 week span

My dad had only a few extra vicodins from a previous surgery so I took those twice a day until I left on Tuesday.

I went up to Berkeley on Tuesday for Shanes birthday then was there until Saturday because of the wedding I was shooting on Friday. Everyday my entire left side of my jaw progressively got worse. I started loosing serious sleep and started feeling sick every single morning because of it, but I had to push through until I got back home to Southern California to see my dentist! Sunday night I could not fall asleep because the pain had gotten so bad, I would grip my entire jaw and just rock back and forth, knowing there was nothing I could do but wait for the pain to pass. I started crying and went up to my moms room because Moms always make things better. My dad came in the room ( this is 2 in the morning might I add ) and gave me a blessing. A blessing that things would go smoothly from the point out and for the pain to lessen.

I fell asleep 10 minutes later.

I woke up Monday morning ( the day I was leaving to ROME! ) and went first thing to the dentist.

My dentist worked on me for a few hours as I laid their with numerous things running through my mind. Things on my checklist to have done by the time I was going to leave at noon, worries that he wasn't going to fix it and I was going to have to come back from Italy JUST because of this tooth situation, worries that everything would go smoothly at the airport and long travels to Rome.

So the problem with my tooth was when he put the crown on, my bite was not entirely on, if your bite is off, then you can be in serious pain. Pain that I can not describe, I felt like someone was pulling all my nerves and gums into a ball then twisting that ball for a good five to ten minutes at a time. Oh ya and then topping it off with a sluj-hammer to the entire left side of my mouth.

The dentist loaded with me up with a bottle of Vicodin in case I was in extreme pain through my travels, a few bags of Motrin, and amoxicillin for an infection that might come about. I felt like a serious pill popper, but it was so necessary.

I hate to still continue with my complaining story, but I have to tell how my excruciating pain ended just two days ago. And why I am not the happiest person in the world because it is gone!

So my flight to Spain...

4 times on a 12 hours flight I had that same 5 minutes of miserable pain. Thinking "just a few more days hopefully and it will be gone. It is still wearing off from before the dentist fixed it, it will get better" 2 of the 4 times on the plane, I cried again because it was so bad. Everytime I drank water or anything it would happen. But I was always so thirsty, so I would wait until I NEEDED that water then know I was going to have to fight through the 5 minute pain.

We finally arrived in Spain, we arrived to most awesome airport I have ever seen in my life!

We left our luggage in a locker because we had about an 18 our layover in Madrid and we knew we would be doing lots of exploring. We took a bus to downtown and began our walking. I have never really thought about Madrid nor knew at all what it would be like. I now know, Madrid is beautiful! It is one of the cleanest cities I have ever been to and one of the most fascinating places I have ever seen! It was glamourous, beautiful, big, had amazing buildings, and so much more. The excitement of this amazing city made my pain of my tooth ( sort of ) go away.

We then realized, we were very jet-lagged. Arriving to Madrid at 2pm was 6am California time. We didn't sleep too much on the plane and after all that walking around in Madrid we were like, wow we are exhausted. So we went to a hostile and stayed for the night because we still had until the next day at noon-ish till out flight to Rome. Hostiles are interesting, fun and interesting concepts. Cheap too!

I couldn't sleep, once again because of my tooth ache, so we were both wide awake at like 3:30 am. I was starving in this hostile, I couldnt take any pills on my empty stomach because then I feel sick, so we had to wait until something opened. As soon as 7 am or so hit, we up and left back into the streets of Madrid. We found a cafe open, got donuts then walked over to the huge park of Madrid.

This park was AMAZING, I can't quite describe it besides that fact that it was beautiful. We watched the sun rise by the man made lake inside the park, it was glorious.

We made a few more necessary stops as we were in Madrid then made our way back to the airport.

To Rome we go...

Breakfast at Crepevine

I have been a server at Crepevine ever since I moved to Berkeley.
Crepevine is the best restaurant, truly. Maybe its because I have been lucky enough to eat EVERYTHING on that huge menu which makes me love it all. The breakfast is amazing... amazing.
I am such a breakfast person, its my favorite meal of the day! So long story short, Shane loves it just as much as I do [mainly because he is obsessed with the "Costa Del Sol Eggs Benedict" ]
So for his birthday which was on Wednesday, I took him to breakfast here to enjoy a beautiful blue-sky morning. We sat outside and enjoyed our last breakfast in Berkeley, and obviously to enjoy a yummy birthday breakfast! I will miss you Crepevine!

New Years.

Ended up spending the New Years this year with Tatoomi and Hyph.It was really the last chance to hang out with them before I left!So we did what do best... Sat around outside, on the couch, at the table, out and about and TALKED.Talked and talked and talked, lots of laughs and sarcasm and stories. Santa Clause was too good to me this year

Well not just Santa... thanks to Shane, Aarean & Josh, and my parents I got the Canon 7d and a beautiful wide angle lens [ 10-20mm ]

Lets just say I am HOOKED UP for Rome. I got all my necessities for my future living abroad.

I was very blessed this Christmas.

I have spent good times with a few friends that I hadn't seen in a while, I have spent lots of fun times with my family, been eating way too much food in my moms kitchen, and been eating lots of Golden Spoon :)

Its been a wonderful past few weeks.

Now its time to prepare for my departure in 12 days. YEE!

But still, it was the reaction I was precisely wanting! CLASSIC. ahahah

I felt so bad.

So I also gave him a huge ice cream filled with m&m's and gummy bears afterwards as " gift #2 "

Five minutes after I gave it to him though he came up to me and was like "thanks rachael I really really love my gift, you know I asked Santa if I could PLEASEEEE have a blue cd holder and now I have one! So thank you I love it"

Such a sweet boy.

Although I feel to bad to ever do that again.

Over the past year I have accumulated way too many videos that I shot for ideas for small projects. Those small projects sometimes get stuffed under the table and you forget to touch them!

I shot some of these for a project I was doing for my final last spring...

I shot some of these on lonesome leisure-ish walks...

I shot some of these while adventuring with Shaney

I shot some of these while roaming with my girlfriends

I shot lots of these while driving [unsafe, yet worth it]

I shot these all because in my mind these settings sparked something.

I walk around on a daily basis and take in the things that inspire me

I take those natural things that inspire me and try to make something of it

Through: pictures, creating ideas, ways of thinking, ways of viewing, art, finding better ways of treating people, appreciating more, recognizing little things

So I suppose this video is a plethora of all the things that inspire me

and in a funky way make me happy [as of now]

Its kinda a busy busy video but I really really like it.

Funniest thing!

My friend Heather posted this on her tumblr and I don't know if I was in a giggly mood or what, but I was literally laughing out loud CONSTANTLY while watching these videos. Oh my gosh!!
I had to re-share them because I think they are hilarious. Greatest idea ever to give your kid a bad gift and see their reaction. I feel like a kid's true personality comes out after opening their present.

These first kids are adorable and so well-behaved.
The second video... the kids reaction is priceless.

Friday when I go to Whitneys, I'm going to give Reagan and Hudson a terrible gift and video tape it.
Its gonne be great, I can't wait.

Fisheye + City

Found my fisheye camera in my trunk of the car. Which is sadly a complete disaster back there.

Which will in fact be wiped clean by Friday. I am doing a sweeping and cleaning of the car because that car needs to have room for all my belongings to be stuffed in there to move back home.

thats two sad faces for that comment.

But I'm making this last week of mine in Berkeley a good one.

Me and Shane went into the city Saturday to go ice skating in Union Square.

Well showing up at 4:00 wasn't early enough, it was sold out until 9:30 so we shopped around and grabbed dinner up on the 7th floor of Macy's at The Cheesecake Factory.

Christmas time in the city is so much fun and so festive. Its lovely!

We played around the city a little yesterday again then back to Berkeley for a last time meal at my favorite Fillipos Italian restaurant on College Ave. We brought fisheye camcam along...

Now some of these images are VERY grainy and bad quality because it doesnt capture darkness AT ALL. So bear with, but its still good memories so I had to post them.

I mean there isn't much to say besides perfect.

I had these ideas of Aarean and Josh's pictures this year, which were originally supposed to be taken in the Muir Woods. I wanted big bulky trunks of the beautiful Redwoods to give this "feel" to the images. Mild tones and a pop of a color [i.e. red]

But things changed a little bit and early morning drive to Muir Woods with a baby probably wasn't going to work out haha. So I scouted out a location in the Berkeley Hills [with Paige and Sadies help] and found this tiny street and loved it. So we came back and shot the pictures here and they turned out wonderful. Aareans outfits for everyone turned out adorable. I love when the colors and patterns flow. Not matchy matchy, USA.

But a perfect blend of colors.

What adorable kids the Macdonalds have! I think they said they have been married for 8 or nine years, and you would have thought they were newlyweds by the way they are together. The journey home: Which turned out the be a safari in itself...

We drove up the 1 because we wanted to see Big Sur on the way home and get some good pictures of waterfall and shore. Well that didnt work out because it was dark by the time we got to Big Sur. It was dark becauseeeeee we saw way too many other cool things and had to stop and take pictures of those instead!

For example we saw a heard of Zebras, Zebras? Yes Zebras, crazy I know.

Then we saw a moose and his friends

Then we pulled around this corner and had to stop to snap this great view:

not to mention Shane spotted a huge whale in the ocean not too far out from shore, so as we were driving along this road, this huge whale was riding up north with us. It was awesome.

Then the best part of all! I have never seen anything like this sunset.

As you might know the 1 (soon after you pass Hearst Castle) begins to rise high, therefore your driving on high cliffs for a while. So as we got to the highest peek we saw the fog rolling in over the ocean. Slowly it was creepin but after a good 20 minutes it covered the entire ocean below us, leaving only the sun to set over the blanket of clouds

And us to enjoy it.

LIttle bit of Halloween Weekend

This was the first weekend I have had off in MONTHS so I wanted to actually do SOMETHING!

Good idea right? It turned out to be an even better idea once we got to Santa Barbara and the weather was absolute perfection. I hadn't seen my friends in months so I decided to meet with them and enjoy a little getaway. Me and Shane drove down to Santa Barbara and met up with them, spent a fun night on the town, dressed up for it, then enjoyed the next day moseying around on the pier, beach, and whatnots'. It was confirmed that Halloween is one great holiday. Dressing up to be whoever you want is ...... just fun. Paige can attest [ as you will probably see on her blog today or tomorrow, that she loves dressing up more than anyone ]

Awhhh to finally have half the day off together!!

Since that happens Oh so rarely, we take sweet advantage of the days that we get to go do whatever!

And that usually pertains to going to the city or somewhere that way

I picked him up from class and since yesterday was so beautiful, I said lets just go in the city

So... we did.

Since my camera is broken [which is the worst thing ever]

I went and rented one outta my school, or sort of [SFAI] and HALLLLLLELUJA we got a camera!

We spent the day driving over the Golden gate. Taking pictures.

Drove into Sausalito and grabbed food, then trecked our way over to Stinson Beach

[which is a small small town on the west side of Muir Woods in a little pocket]

We hung out at the beach, took pictures, ate more food, and enjoyed the BEACH.

Its been a long time since I have been able to enjoy the beach. yum.

We trecked back on over the hill and went into the city for the rest of the night.

To shop, and walk, and eat, and watch people. All the best parts of the city.

Anyways I was so happy to finally have a camera to photograph a day! Gosh it was nice.

So thats why I have so many pictures in this chunk

But I sure do love them all :)

as if their conversation wasn't absolute bogus and extremely strange for one person to think, the fact that girl #2 was all about the conversation too, going into depth about out of body experiences and past life memories.

Anyways thats when I decided 75 % of people who reside in Berkeley are strange.

But I'm ok with that, if anything it keeps me very entertained.

Anyways thats what I was doing until I realized I left my wallet in the car so I walked back to my car and was pleased to see that I also left my keys in the car. Awesome. Phone had 10% battery left so I quickly made the call to AAA. 25 minutes later Triple A came and ever so easily put a stick through the window and opened my door. Hallelujah, AAA is seriously the best. What a great company.

So during those 25 minutes minutes I enjoyed the best part of my day thus far:

sat on the curb with my back to the sun and felt the most beautiful weather EVER.

The absolute best temperature with a tint of breeze. The sun soaked up my arms and back and I felt amazing.

As those long glorious 25 minutes past I wasn't even mad anymore that I was having to wait for keys to be taken out of my locked car. I was happy.

And decided like I have decided before:

that some of the best moments of my life are simply enjoying the sun, weather, or nature.

All that is free and all that was created for us to enjoy.

If I could suggest something to anyone who reads my blog:

I would suggest to take time in sitting and appreciating those most simple things in life.

Now that is some good eye candy to make you happy!

I'm normally not the cheesy type, to write all about how much they loveeeee their boyfriends/ significant other... but today I want to be.

Because today, 7 months ago, I started this growing of love for Shaney boy.

This morning he tiredly sang the first two lines of that song to me. Cause we got reminded that todays the 10th, and todays is another month. And I'm pretty sure that we both feel the same exact way about eachother, which is, we find new reasons why we love eachother everyday.

Like when you notice something new about them that you surprisingly haven't realized about them thus far into the relationship. They do a facial expression that you've never seen and find it adorable. They have a new outfit on and you think they look sexy in a new way. They lay on their side kinda curled in a ball while lying in a bed of pillows napping, its just cute. You hold hands and lightly tickle eachother hands, just to show a small quite way of loving.

You sit and stare and then it pops in your head, like a bright light: Gosh I love them.

Thats when you know you cant let the ones that make you feel this way go.

Mom and pops came up last week to visit me and whit [well and the spence and the kids of course]

Sometimes do you feel the older you get the more you REALLY love to see your parents,

really want to hang out with them or just sit and talk.

Actually I'm sure fifty percent would say the opposite. Thats probably because the older some people get the more they realize, adult to adult, their parents aren't very cool. Or just not likeable, or maybe weird, or maybe too argumentative, or maybe just grumpy, or maybe just not like you at all so the differences keep the distance.

Buttttt non of that applies to me.

I definitely think the older I get, the more I appreciate how great of parents I do have.

So when they came we shopped, and walked around a lot, and ate a lot. It was nice.

Me and pops sat and drank hot chocolate on an outside table of a cafe and people-watched some ugaaaaly/strange/freaky people in Berkeley. It was very entertaining.

My dad has some awesome witty comments that come out of his mouth. I get a serious kick outta them!

My mom plays the best mom rolls when she comes: She'll make me food when I come home, make me cozy, tickle my back, talk with me about my day, shop with me... I love it. I love feeling young again and my mom taking care of me like she always has. Innocent feeling.

Anyways just thought I'd share how I spent my week last week

Oh and another great part about their travels up here is they brought me a bike.

I have been doing some good eating (two pictures below) at Your House in Berkeley,

a thai food restaurant... yums

Aarean and Sage paid me and Whitney a wonderful visit for like a week, which was so fun!

and nice to have her up here, its so nice to be with multiple sisters at one time

Sage of course is eye candy at all times, I'm obsessed with her, as everyone else is too, obviously!

Have I mentioned how in love I am with Grey lately too? Because I am, and he is so cuddly with me. I cherish every little cuddle he gives me, they make me heart melt melt melt.

Aarean and Whitney came out to Berkeley a few times and I showed them around, we ate my favorite ice cream cones [ Ici ] and we had breakfast and my restaurant [ Crepevine ]

I drove them around the awesome huge houses in Berkeley and the dream-home neighborhoods that I adore out here. We shopped, we hung out, we laughed, we chit chatted in the Whit's kitchen late at night, we got our nails done

What have I been up to on the weekends?

I have been at numerous, numerous parks, a few schools fields, and been around too many kids

AKA, I am waking up at 4 or 5 am and am being a sports photographer for youth sports teams

its actually pretty awesome

not those first 5 minutes of the awaking of the alarm, but after that its not bad

and I do enjoy being up before the sun rises sometimes, its a veryyyyy sneaky, or erie feeling, or getting-your-ish-done type of feeling. I cant decide hah

Recently been thinking of my near feature/ somewhat near future GOALS.

I'm not normalllllllly a goal setter, is that a certain personality trait? [people who like to set goals all the time?] well if so, I don't think that trait is much in me.

But since I have had to kick my butt into gear a little bit lately, in order to achieve things I need, then I might as well roll with this.

I got myself my first job up here [the sports photography one in the city] which I was proud of myself for

I got myself my second job the other day [as a server for this yummy crepe restaurant] in order to have my money to go to Rome in January.

I got my photography packaging done [which I have wanted to do for a while]

and I am getting my website completely up-to-date with me and what I am putting myself out there for, as a photographer.

Relieved.

As I was looking through magazines the other day at the bookstore I came across some good wedding magazine finds. I like to scan through the wedding photographer sections and see what's lookin good in weddings across the country. Just for fun, ideas, visual eye candy... all the reasons why we read magazines, right?

Well......... after I was done looking through them, I instantly decided that its my goal to have one of my weddings featured in these wedding magazines. Its very possible. Not to hype myself, but I definitely feel confident enough that in the next two years or so I can have one of my weddings put in. Looking through and comparing some of the weddings I see in them, I feel like its a reasonable goal for me. And I am looking forward to it! Mark my word.

Practice [aka, the more weddings I do, the better I get]

Just for everyone. The more you do of something, obviously the better you get at it.

Which leads me to my next goal which is:

Getting three of the Canon products that I need/ want to achieve my first goal.

The body and 2 lenses that I so desperately want.

Once I get those, things will really start to happen for me I hope!

She's always had a knack for jewelry, so it only makes sense that her creativity would make these adorable earrings. Feathers are in, but its hard to find feather earrings that don't look cheap.

Its also hard to find feather earrings that have more that just the lame-o feathers.

Therefore, Paige's earrings are the best I have ever seen.

Forgot to mention how abosolutely incredible Adele was at her concert the other weekend!

We walked five minutes up to the Greek Amphitheater in Berkeley and enjoyed one of the best shows I have ever seen, ever. Not that the show itself was over the top with lights or stage people, but the simplicity of hanging lamps as the backdrop, her standing front and center with a stool, along side of her pianist, then her classy band that was there on most the songs.

Incredible.

We laid on a blanket on the lawn and watch/ listened to her perfect voice as the sun set in the dark with our view of the San Francisco City in a far distance. Everything was perfect, she was perfect.

Adele is only 22? That is a joke. She was so confident, charming, funny, potty-mouthed (in a good British way), lovely, beautiful, and all the above. She was great. I would suggest her concert to EVERYONE. No one would walk away from that concert displeased.

It was that good.

Wanna know one of the best things about Berkeley?The food. Once I moved to this other part of town, me and Shane decided we wanna start trying out all these amazing restaurants. We made a deal last week that we cant eat at one place more that once in like two weeks. We definitely have our favorites that we eat at ALL THE TIME.House of Curries (FAVORITE indian food ever) and Filippos (Italian food off College Ave) BUT..... since there are so many place that we have heard that are amazing, then its a must that I eat at that them. Eating out is one of my favorite things, just like everybody else. So I have to take sweet advantage of the delicious food that we could be intaking!

Place number one: Crepevine. Any and all crepes imaginable... enough said. (thats where we are eating in these pics)

We met up with Shane's brother and his girlfriend the other weekend while they were in town. San Francisco is the best, it really is one of the most exciting places to live. So much to do, so much entertainment everywhere!

So!....

I found the most amazing store the other day right by my house called PAPER SOURCE

it snagged my attention because in the window they have this huge quote saying "Do something creative everyday" and I instantly loved it. Do something creative everyday... what a great thing right?

If you care about that kinda stuff I guess, like I do. Being creative is the most rewarding thing, because whatever you end up creating, you get to keep and its done personally by YOU.

Ok so after I wandered into that store last week, I have been back like 4 times and spend about an hour in there each day, kinda embarrassing. But you could literally spend hoursssss in there.

I decided I awhile ago that I really wanted to create my packaging for my photography company.

I hated that I was giving away all my clients picture on just a cd, and it was like There Ya Go? No, I didnt like that, but I was also low on money, didnt have strong ideas yet, and wanted to find something that fit me. So up until I found this store, I got inspired to finally do it! I got money, I got ideas, and I found a direction... thanks Paper Source.

There are so many directions you can go with packaging, literally like thousands of directions.

You can spend a lot of money, you can spend a decent amount, or you can spend dirt cheap money.

This store has all levels of that, every color and texture in your imagination for your cards, envelopes, stationary, flat cards, labels, stamps, packaging. That is why you can spend hours in there!

Anyways I finally decided something simple and to fit exactly what the purpose is for my personal packaging. It is my thank you card plus a slot for their cd with all their images on it. Sealed in a personalized envelope.

I have a stamp with Rachael McCall Photography that is being made, written big and ready to be stamped on the top of that envelope seal. MMM I love it! I love that I have something for now, its perfect for me.

What would I do without bathtubs? They are my favorite things ever.
I think I got it from my mom, she loves baths just as much as me.
But really though, what is better than coming in from a cold day, getting in a really hot bubble bath with candles? Very few things. One day I will have the ultimate bathroom. Its all I would want to spend the most money on in my house! haha but for real. These bathrooms are amazing

I MOVED...

Yes indeed, I moved to Berkeley.
Wanted to be by my babe, and I got a job in the city!
Two exciting things. I have been living with Whitney and Spencer for the past year and it was time for me to get my feet a-walkin again and be on my own again. Which is important. [yet very very sad at the same time] They have been wonderful to live with. I'm so happy I had the chance to live with my sister, get to know the kids better, and spend good quality times bonding with them all.

This was a pretty cool picture I found of Berkeley and the bay. I arrowed out exactly where I live in Berkeley hah [the Here] I'm on the Northwest side of town, close to the freeway and closer to the city.
A mile-ish away from the crowded college scene, which is nice. All the time I have spent in Berkeley with Shane in the past year, we have stayed right around the school, ate at the same favorite restaurants right around the school area. But I have found a very different part of Berkeley and I love it. Nice, new place, I am happy. Right near the bart station, which is a plus because a bart ride into the city is about 20 minutes, and THAT is sweet. We love to go into the city, because without fail, it always turns out to be an adventure and always is a fun time in the city

So yes about the job I got, I'll be shooting youth sports up to age 18 around the entire Bay Area. We travel, we take lots of pictures, and it seems very fun! It's right up my ally and being behind a camera is the best place for me. Very very excited about it !

Conclusion: Life is great right now. Only good things to come! [I hope]

the weekend

Just wanted to announce my survival of the 3 days of babysitting all three of these munchkins

By survived I mean 5 hours of sleep, and a house in one piece when Whit and Spence got back

No sleeping is not ok.

Formula bottles like 5 times a day, not ok

bad bad poopy diapers, not ok.

Hudson hitting me with numerous things, not ok

Going to Target with three kids, not ok

I give the negatives because those are all the reasons why I am not having kids for AWHILE

I love them! But no, uh uh, nope, that transition of lifestyle is a complete no-go for me anytime soon

We had a fun weekend though, I think I am a pretty good entertainer to these kids

probably because I take them to get ice cream like 3 times a day and let them go to bed late

and watch movies after movies, take them to parks, feed ducks, go on walks.

So: Props to mothers because you get no sleep or time to yourself

and props to me for being able to do it for 3 full days.

Lenore + Ryan wedding in San Francisco

Well I already talked about this wedding a bit. But heres a little more:

So Lenore is Whitney's friend, and that is how we met.

She has three adorable kids that I couldn't stop staring at all day. Dark hair, dark eyed kids.

Then Ryan has two boys that are cute cute cute as well.

Together they have 5 kids and a beautiful family!

As we were outside in front of City Hall after the ceremony and all that, Lenore said "this was the way to do it!"

City Hall, that is. I think second marriages [weddings] are much more laid back.

Enjoyable. Less pressure.

So I can definitely see why her deciding to have a fun city hall wedding, was a good choice for them

Anyways I love this place, by far the best architecture I have ever shot at.

And I LOVE good architecture to shoot in!

I'll take another wedding here...... anytime.

Because I am being a mom for the next couple days and probabbbblllyyyy will not be able to be left alone to blog or computer or anything. I HAVE SO MUCH TO BLOG ABOUT, and its bugging me!

I've been moving (so no internet) and now here babysitting (so not time except late night)

But its all good, because I love these kids and its my last weekend being with them. Goodnight!

Pink bride

The reason I am posting just these four, okay I'm gonna add one more so five, is because I think these four (that I have edited so far) describe the days pace the best. GO GO GO. So easy, so quick, so stress-free, so funky, so beautiful... pretty much Lenore's wedding today at the San Francisco City Hall was awesome! Lets not forget about how many stairs there was to go up and down, now looking back on my photos though, I think the stairs were some of my favorites, maybe because I was taking so many of them walking up and down them too hah.

I have a TON of pictures that I love from the day so since I am babysitting and I put the kids down at like 9, I have been at it since, but now I am a bit sleepy and baby Grey is probably gonna be waking me up in about 5 hours with a little wimper due to a hungry stomach.

So! I am posting these because you can get a vibe of what's to come.... different, right?

I mean how many brides have pink dresses, and pink hair? None at the city hall today, I can tell you that haha. She was the main event at that place today, people loved her! People loved her outside, honking their horns at her, lots of waves, people coming up to say how awesome she looked, randoms taking pictures of her. Anyways she was so fun, it was a good time!

My Huda.

He turned 6 today

I love that Hudson loves birthdays so much, he was in the BEST mood today

when I saw him for the first time today he ran to me and gave me the biggest hug and kiss

he had the biggest smile on his face like all day, I love it

Hudson has became one of my best little friends, really

I mean I do live with him, we do hang out every day

But when I get to hang out with just him and we go do something by ourselves, sometime I feel like I am legitimately hanging out with a friend. Sometimes he converses with me on such a mature level.

He knows when I'm sad, so he'll ask what is wrong sincerely, then listen

He knows when I am bugged, so he'll mess with me

He knows when I am in a giggly mood, so he'll entertain me and make me laugh

we go on bike rides, we have picnics, he shows me all his millions of legos then process to have wars with them, we make tents, we watch movies, we go get ice cream, we have dance parties.

I feel like he really cares and loves me, at age 6. And I am so grateful for that.

I love Hudson so much that moving away makes me get teary

I'll miss hangin with him and grabbin him to cuddle in my arms real quick

He is so precious to me, I am so glad to have the little guy in my life

So my birthday was yesterday and I turned the big double dueces..... 21 no mas
Feels good to one year older! I feel so good about where I have come in the past year, what I have accomplished and where I now stand at age 22.

A little about my day yesterday:
Woke up to Whitney making me delicious french toast, my favvvvv!
got ready and drove to Shanes, then we hit the road to Santa Cruz for the day
I love having a summer birthday because its always warm on my birthday so I usually spend the day outside somehow, somewhere
So surfing, have I gone before? A little bit but enough to be a titbit confident in saying I have surfed
Shane, loves to surf (as in the top two things he loves to do more than anything)
He threw the idea out there to go surfing all day and I was totally down to go, so we rented boards for the day
we paddled out, past all the nasty-a disgusting seaweed and I began to ride the "white water" waves.
then attempted a few of the bigger guys, not so successful, but still I tried.
We stayed out there for couple hours then drove back up to Danville to have dinner.
Had yummy Italian food, and I opened my present from Shane at dindin.
He made this photo book (created it on apple) of us and all our adventures thus far in our relationship
LOVED IT! then turned to the last page and it had Adele concert tickets snuggled into the book
Adele concert tickets for this weekend, what?! YES I am so excited!
Sunday night at the Greek amphitheater, I cant wait to watch Adele perform because I know she will be amazing. Her voice, prime!

After dinner we went back to Whitneys and had some cake, opened some presents from my momma and from Whit
Showered off a bit from the beach, got ready real quick, then me and Shane went to the city
Spent the rest of the night till about 2 am in downtown San Fran with Shanes brother Trevor and his girlfriend Shannon
it was so fun, we had such a fun day. Good birthday, good birthday kid!

Loved all my presents and my entire day! thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday and for Shaneyboy treating me like a princess for the day.
Because you know, everyone gets to be princess on their birthdays. Fact.
